Precision engineering specialists EGL Vaughan have made a name for themselves after being recognised as ‘Best Precision Machining Specialists’ by SME News. After being acquired by Allied Global Engineering in 2020, EGL has also announced a facility move.

SME News’ 2021 UK Enterprise awards have named EGL Vaughan ‘Best Precision Machining Specialists’, starting the year off with a bang. In what has been a trying time for almost all businesses in the last 14 months, EGL Vaughan has been undergoing exponential growth and changes at a business level.

Since being acquired by Allied Global, the business has continued to go from strength to strength. They are currently undergoing a site move to a much larger HQ, to become even leaner, and build on their experience and expertise.

Director, Philip Jepson, spoke about the team’s award-winning success, saying “We acquired EGL Vaughan in the teeth of the pandemic and at a very challenging time in the life of the business. It is a huge credit to the team at EGL Vaughan that they have become award winners whilst they and the business are going through substantial change. Well done to the whole team.”

The move has been in the pipeline for a while, and last year after the acquisition and the ongoing pandemic, it seemed a good time to put things in motion, especially as they wanted a more lean manufacturing and machining process.

EGL Vaughan achieved the SME News UK award for its performance improvements and changes over COVID. The team looked to use this time as productively as possible and improve current machinery space, develop relationships, expand their customer base and take a positive step forward during a really tough time.
